Astronomers from the University of Arizona has permitted the existence in the Solar system the tenth planet, the size and mass comparable to Mars. The research is aimed for publication in the Astronomical Journal.
Similar to the Mars planet is in the Kuiper belt — the Solar system beyond the orbit of Neptune containing many icy celestial bodies.
Conducted calculations show that the tenth planet could be removed from the Sun at a distance of 50 astronomical units, and its orbit is inclined to the Ecliptic plane by eight degrees. Heavenly body has resentment for well-known objects of the Kuiper belt and, most likely, in ancient times was closer to the Sun.
Currently, the Solar system officially has eight planets: mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. In January 2016, American scientists have discovered evidence of the existence of the ninth planet, its characteristics are reminiscent of Neptune, but remote from the Sun at a distance of 600-1200 astronomical units.
