In the river, unknown vandals have spoiled the portrait of the writer Oles Honchar, drawn in the framework of the project “Word on the wall.”
“I never thought that this portrait moved. He was so alive, real and so genuine that it’s like a person just hit… We don’t know who messed up the portrait of the Potter, why and for what. Likely “just” – quoted by radio Liberty, the coordinator of the project “Word on the wall” Anastasia Teplyakova. According to her, the portrait could not be restored, so the authors of the picture decided to whiten.
The project “Word on the wall” was launched in the river in 2016. This artistic initiative of creative youth, which popularitywith Ukrainian literature. The first object was graffiti with a quote from banned in the Soviet era novel “Cathedral” by Oles Honchar. The volunteers made him stop in the student area on the corner of Television and Gagarin Avenue. Later on other buildings and bus stops of the city there were quotations from the works of Ukrainian classics, as well as a portrait of Honchar on the fence at the entrance to the courtyard near the student dormitories.
