American organization Seasteading Institute embarked on building the world’s first Autonomous floating city.
A small town of 300 people will be built in the Pacific ocean off the coast of French Polynesia. Engineers and architects plan to create residential buildings, offices, restaurants, medical facility and research Institute with the power plant, writes the Independent. It is understood that the city is able to provide itself with electricity and to sell part of French Polynesia. The creation of such an ambitious project requires 167 million dollars.
According to Joe Cwirka, President of the Seasteading Institute, he is disappointed at the modern state foundations, so a floating city would be an alternative. Floating city will be located in the special economic zone. Team Quirke will create jobs for local residents and will carry out a study of the influence of city life on the economy and the environment.
Joe Quirk argues that more detailed information about the location of the city and its functioning, he will reveal after the signing of the agreement on its political autonomy. The city plans to finish by 2020.
