Prison staff stressed that the broken fence was not a release from the prison, but only divided the territory within the colony. After the incident, prisoners were held in preventive work.
By results of check in the penal colony, the Investigative Committee for the Novosibirsk region opened a criminal case under part 2 of article 321 of the criminal code (disorganization of the institutions providing the isolation from society). In this article, Vasilyev could face up to five years imprisonment.
