The closed Muslim clothing cannot be worn in public areas
The lower house of the Parliament of the Netherlands passed a law which prohibits the wearing in public places clothing that covers the face.
The ban applies to the burqa – women’s clothing similar to a burqa that completely covers the body and face, and niqabs – female headdress covering the face, with a narrow slit for the eyes, and also to balaclavas and motorcycle helmets.
By law, such clothes cannot be worn in public transport, educational and medical institutions and governmental buildings. Violators will face a fine – 405 euros.
Now the law needs to approve the upper house of the Dutch Parliament.
As previously reported, on September 27 in Switzerland’s lower house of Parliament approved a bill to ban Muslim garments that cover the woman’s face.
Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the burqa is not conducive to the integration of Muslim women in German society.
