Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the role of the mediator in the settlement of the situation in the Donbass requires the consent of all parties to the conflict.
Thus he answered the question of journalists, whether former President Viktor Yanukovych to mediate in resolving the conflict in the Donbas.
“About mediation in the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis – I would have left it without comment. Of course, the role of the facilitator requires the consent of all parties to the conflict… You know it was Ukraine, there was a civil war. Russia is not a party to the conflict, so Kiev and the Donbass must first come together in this understanding,” – said Peskov.
He added that Russia, along with France and Germany is the guarantor of the Minsk agreements “which were signed, a very specific document.”
“But, unfortunately, together we can not yet boast that they managed to do some of the required distance in the way of implementing the provisions of the Minsk agreements”, — said Peskov.
