Twitter said that about 75% of the blocked accounts were closed before sending them any messages. In total from August 2015 Twitter has suspended 935 897 accounts, of which two-thirds had this year.

“Our tools for fighting spam allow us to quickly and effectively block accounts that violate our rules,” – said in a statement Twitter.

Last year, Twitter took on a voluntary commitment in Europe within 24 hours to block the sending of messages of a racist, xenophobic or extremist.
