Automakers will have a hard time
In the European Union are beginning to tighten regulations on emissions for new cars. So, from September 1 will earn the new WLTP test system, in which fuel consumption will be tested in real road conditions, not in laboratory, as applied in the NEDC test.
While the new methodology will only affect those models of cars that first appeared on the market, but within a year, the system WLTP will work for all new vehicles throughout Europe.
Automakers will have a hard time, because many of them clearly underestimated the fuel consumption of their vehicles, and thus the amount of harmful emissions. It may happen that such “offenders” will impose higher taxes that could lead to a rise in price of cars with internal combustion engines.
