In the Chernobyl zone during summer will launch a solar power station

We are talking about production within 2,5 thousand MW of electricity.

In the Chernobyl area this summer to start the first solar power plant. According to the Minister of ecology and natural resources Ostap Semerak in an interview with Public, late last year announced the collection of bids from investors on the construction of solar power plants in the exclusion Zone. “By March 1 we….received more than 50 applications. Now conducting preparatory work to launch these projects,” – said Semerak.

According to him, the potential of the Chernobyl zone allows you to give the opportunity to realize all these applications.

“The Chernobyl plant had four units, as was planned in Soviet times to build as many as 12. The networks that were built were quite powerful. I think we can, with proper organization of work to ensure the interest of all the investors who came,” said the Minister.

According to his estimates, talking about the production of 2.5 thousand MW of electricity. “This is the value commensurate with the two nuclear power plants,” – said the Minister.

Semerak also said that the first project of renewable solar energy on the territory of the Chernobyl zone have already started to implement. “Today we can speak about the first private investment in this area. This is a small solar station, which is already under construction. It is the Ukrainian investor”, – said the Minister.

The Minister hoped that the expected start and getting the first “green” energy from Chernobyl can be “in the first half of this year.”
