In Kiev, March 19 opened the thirteenth mini-sculpture from the project “Suka!”. On the facade of the building along the street Yaroslaviv Val, 23, appeared bronze Kiev computer. Work was created by bronze sculptor Daria Wolf.
“This is the first mini-sculpture from the project “Suka!”, that we set this year. In Yaroslav Val technical the symbol of Kiev – Europe’s first computer. Or as it was called – the first small electronic computing machine (MMM). It was created in the capital the Institute of electrical engineering under the guidance of academician Sergei Lebedev,” – says “Today” Yulia Bevzenko, author of “Suka!”.
At the opening of the symbol of the city recalled the history of the first Kyiv computer. Its development began in 1948, and the first launch took place in November 1950. The operation of computing machines was conducted around the clock from 1952 to 1956. The Kiev computer occupied a huge area of 60 square meters. It consisted of 6000 electron tubes. The computer was in a two-storey building on the territory of Feofania.
“This is a very interesting character for Kiev. Not chicken, not dry jam, namely, that created by the minds of the Kievan scholars. It’s like the memory of them! The memory of what they were and are able to create such unique designs,” adds Julia Bevzenko.
