JSC “BA interbudmontazh Ukraine” completed the construction of the Beskid tunnel, the company said on 4 October.
The company carried out the main construction works, ie through the tunnel, its concrete floor, equip waterproofing.
Earlier “Ukrzaliznytsya” reported that the “interbudmontazh” was to complete its part of the work on 6 November.
The units of UZ remains the improvement of the subgrade on the approaches to the new tunnel, the laying of the permanent way, the installation of power lines and communications. Full complex of works is scheduled for completion on may 25, 2018, reported in knots.
A new double-track tunnel will pass up to 100 pairs of trains per day at a speed of 60-70 km/h. The current single-track tunnel may miss a maximum of 47 trains per day at speeds of 15-40 km/h.
Beskyd tunnel was built in 1886 and has already exhausted its service life, moreover, its weak bandwidth imposes restrictions on the international transport corridor. Beskid tunnel is the only single-track section of the entire length of the V Cretan corridors in the territory of Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine and Russia (Trieste-Ljubljana-Budapest-Bratislava-Uzhgorod-Lviv).
