Scientists from the new Zealand heritage trust Antarctic hut at Cape Adare in hand was a strange find – a 106-year-old pie.
Fruitcake has not lost “face” and looked like he just took down the British confectionery company Huntley & Palmers.
Though, according to employees of the Fund, the tin box in which lay the dessert was in pretty bad shape, the pie looked and smelled “almost like edible”.
According to experts, the cupcake was part of the provisions of the Northern party of the expedition, “Terra Nova”, the members of which lived at Cape Adair.
By the way, earlier in the same place, scientists have found a picture of the Explorer Edward Wilson, who died in 1912 during the campaign of the party of the South “Terra Nova” to the South pole.
