Together with the services of the city hall in the place mobilized the police. The dismantling of the shelves is carried out on the background of a protest of the merchants, accusing the city authorities that they are left without a livelihood.

“This morning the municipality has forbidden merchants to set up stalls near the metro Marjanishvili. To fight illicit trade Avenue Agmashenebeli the city authorities have decided because this area is one of the main tourist and crowded places of the capital”, – stated in the message.

It is noted that, based on the fact that the street trade often gives the opportunity to earn the socially unprotected part of population, merchants were invited to continue working in different markets of Tbilisi, in connection with which the city authorities are negotiating with their Directors to offer these merchants the shelves free for the first few months.

The report said that “the municipality plans to continue activities to combat illegal trade on the streets of the capital in the near future the city will gradually begin to hold similar events in other Central districts of Tbilisi”.
