In Tajikistan banned to name children Russian names

In 2007, the then President said that the need to return to cultural roots and to use their national place names.

 

In Tajikistan put an end to name children names of Slavic origin, according to the official website of the Parliament of the state.

Now birth certificates in the country will be issued with the exception of suffixes, characteristic of the Russian language, “HIV”, “ov”, “EV”, “Eva”, “Aries”.

 

The norm will not apply to representatives of national minorities have the right to choose what suffixes to the name and patronymic should indicate when registering their newborn children.

 

Citizens who are names in the “Russian” format, the changes do not affect — at least not yet.

 

Amendments to the law are made to “the revival of national names.”

 

The campaign for the rejection of names and family names in the Slavic format was started in Tajikistan in 2007.

 

We will remind, in 2007 the then President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmonov changed his name to Rahmon. His example was followed by many officials.
