Otherwise sex will be considered rape.
Sweden adopted a law that obliges one to obtain the partner’s consent to sex, in another case sexual intercourse will be considered rape. During voting on Wednesday, the Swedish MPs approved corresponding changes to the legislation 257 votes, the Associated Press reports.
By this time, the current Swedish law defined rape as forced sex by violence, threats or abuse of the vulnerable situation of the victim. The law shall enter into force on 1 July.
In December last year during the presentation of amendments to the law, Prime Minister Stefan löfven said, “if the sex is not voluntary, it is illegal”.
In the Swedish government insists that the recent campaign #metoo and the campaign against sexual violence proved the need for the adoption of the relevant amendments.
Critics are skeptical about the law, saying it will not lead to more convictions.
