In St. Petersburg hosted the festival Starcon: Halloween

3-4 November in St. Petersburg hosted the festival Starcondedicated to Halloween and the Mexican holiday day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos).

The festival was held on Vasilyevsky island in a vast pavilion of the exhibition complex “Lenexpo”, the space for the two days was given to fans of science fiction, film and cosplay from different cities of Russia and near and far abroad. Despite the relatively high ticket price (1200 rubles for both days) the pavilion was filled to capacity.

The festival venue was divided into several thematic sectors, which will house stands the famous pandamov, shops with a variety of paraphernalia and comic books, an art area, dance floor and much more. The main action, including the cosplay contest, happening on the main stage. Also on stage were the dance performances, dressed in the costumes of movie characters and comics. The highlight of the program was the performance by the mariachis, who performed several popular Mexican songs, including well-known Russian public La Cucaracha.

The cognitive portion of Starcon included communication with bloggers, authors and artists of comics, as well as motivational lectures of the representatives of thematic publications.

The audience of Starcon was surprised by the variety of costumes and makeup. The festival gathered more than a thousand cosplayers, made up as favorite characters from various pandamov. Many participants did not deny himself the pleasure to be photographed with a particularly original participants. In a special dressing room everyone could transform into any character of your choice.

In the cinema center held screenings of news and trailers of upcoming movies. It is necessary to dwell on the presentation of the trailer of the horror film “Dawn”, the output of which on the wide screen is planned for January of next year. His creation was presented by the film’s Director Pavel Sidorov and artistic Director Sergey Sharamet. After the presentation, the Director answered a number of questions concerning the work on the film, post-production and the situation of Russian chinkororo in General. In particular, the Director did not rule out the possibility of shooting the sequel of “Dawn” in the case of the first film’s success and even expansion of the project into a full-fledged franchise.

Overall, both days were more than full of various events for every taste. The festival was dominated by an incredible atmosphere of fun, not to feel which was absolutely impossible. Looking forward to the new festival in 2019!
