A whole flock settled in the Kherson region.
In the Kherson region on the Azov-Syvash national nature Park, near the lake Turuk noticed about 20 rare pink flamingos. This is an exceptional case because the habitat of pink flamingos in Africa, South America and Southeast Asia. In Ukraine, these birds are found only in zoos.
Head of West Ukrainian ornithological society Andrew Bokotey told the newspaper “Express” that a whole flock of pink flamingos on the territory of Ukraine was seen for the first time. In the 80-ies near the city found only one bird of this species.
Bokotey suggested that the flock was brought to Ukraine by the wind during the period of intensive migration of birds, and suggested that they “will feed and continue the migration.”
In turn, the Ukrainian ornithologist Alexander Nastasenko reported in Facebook that 13 pairs of flamingos nestling in Ukraine and successfully brought three Chicks. Nastashenko published the corresponding photos.
