The main objective of the platform is to verify the interaction of robomobile with other vehicles. On track of a set of urban road elements: junctions, traffic lights, bus “sleeve”, curbs and obstacles.
In addition, the range includes the simulation of rain and floods that will test the navigational abilities of robomobile in difficult weather conditions. A network of seven 360-degree cameras will monitor the progress of the tests. The footage in real time will be the intellectual center of the LTA.
“The test center is equipped with equipment that simulates dense urban traffic, — the chief of Department of innovation and technology LTA Lam Ve Shan. — It will help in the future deployment of Autonomous transport in Singapore.”
The Department plans to launch in 2022 unmanned “bus”, which would stay on demand (via mobile application) in three districts of the city — Punggol, Tengah, and, in fact, Jurong. First shuttles will run on less busy streets, but then will appear on the main highways.
As previously reported, Singapore has decided not to build a 30-kilometer underground road (SURS), which would Zahlavova the Central part of the city-state.
