The relevant amendments to the law on the national payment system was approved on July 26, the Federation Council, and the document awaits the signature of Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to RBC.

As explained by the head of the Duma Committee on financial market Anatoly Aksakov, the restrictions introduced at the request of the financial monitoring service (Rosfinmonitoring), as “these wallets can be used to Finance drug trafficking, terrorism, etc.”, and after the approval of the amendments will become known as a source of funds.

However, in “Yandex.Money”, the Agency stated that the changes will have a negative impact on the revenues of operators of electronic money that are on par with the banks invest a lot of money to stimulate non-cash payments. Earlier this year, authorities have forbidden to withdraw cash from an anonymous e-wallets.

Recall that in January of 2018, the Russian government instructed the relevant departments to prepare a bill to restrict anonymous electronic payments.
