This was not expected.
The Russians called the former leader of the USSR Joseph Stalin the most outstanding person of all times and peoples.
This is evidenced by the results of the survey “Levada-Center”.
For Stalin their votes in this ranking gave 38% of respondents.
Thus Soviet leaders managed to get ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin and writer Alexander Pushkin, who voted for 34% of Russians.
The top five “most eminent men” of the Russian ranking also got Vladimir Lenin and Peter I, which was supported by 32% and 29% respectively.
