Russia hopes that the meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his us counterpart Donald trump will bring clarity to bilateral relations between the two countries. This was stated by Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

According to him, it is important that Russia and the US have defined our relationship with each other, as they determine the fate of the world.

“Of particular importance in today’s world is given to the relations between Russia and the United States, from which depends the solution of many international problems, ranging from the provision of strategic stability, settlement of regional crises. I hope that will prevail at this meeting pragmatism, realism and the realization that each of our countries their national interests more effectively can provide in “concert”, as they say, and not through solo performances,” – said Lavrov.

He noted the importance of the meeting between leaders of the two countries, which will initiate a new round of relations between Russia and the United States.

“The main thing that will overcome an abnormal phase in our relations, when the leaders of the two major powers communicated with each other only by telephone and never met face to face. Yes, we were Rex Tillerson, I was greeted by the President of the trump in the White house. But still the personal contact of presidents in addition to their phone conversations is very important. Moreover, judging by the telephone conversations, they have the desire they both have to overcome the abnormality, which has developed, and to begin to negotiate on specific things, ” said the Minister.
