Russian political scientist and publicist Andrei Piontkovsky believes that the statement of the President of the Russian Federation of peacekeepers in the Donbas indicates Moscow’s willingness to conduct a policy of freezing the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.
On this he wrote in his column for “the New time”.
“This shows that Moscow refuses his unrealistic plan to push so-called “LDNR” in Ukraine to legalize the local bandits and make them political figures of the country – that was imposed Kiev the last two years. On the contrary, now she is ready to lead a course on the freezing of the conflict: peacekeepers on the demarcation line, the actual, and maybe even formal annexation of the territory,” – said Piontkovsky.
However, he stressed that the security Council is unlikely to adopt such a proposal, considering the position which was occupied by the USA.
