“We will continue to promote a political settlement of the Transnistrian conflict”, – he said.

At the same time, the Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin in an interview with Kommersant said that Moscow opposes the withdrawal of the operational group of Russian troops from Transnistria, despite the appeals of the government of Moldova.
“Of course, Moscow still opposed. In the Russian Federation and many other responsible member States of the UN to the initiative are treated with great scepticism, seeing it as a threat to the emergence of a new source of public tension in the South-Eastern part of Europe,” – said Karasin.
He also said that the Transnistrians have a positive attitude towards peacekeeping operations and the presence of Russian troops, although he acknowledged that there are no polls on this subject have been carried out and his opinion is based on personal observations during a visit to Transnistria.
