Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the upcoming presidential elections as the independent candidate.

Another source told journalists that the pros and cons of the participation of Putin in the elections as a party and as a candidate was discussed at meetings with experts in the political block of the Kremlin.

“The majority of the discussion participants were inclined to think that self-promotion is the best option,” he said.

Putin himself their preferences have not yet expressed a final decision on the nomination for the presidency.

“This (the format extension. – Ed.) it yet is not”, — said the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.

Russian legislation provides for two options of nomination from political parties and self-promotion. In 2000 and 2004, Putin went on elections as self-promotion, in 2011 — from the “United Russia”.

That the party will nominate him as their candidate, it was announced at the Congress of “United Russia” on September, 24th — then Dmitry Medvedev refused to run for a second term, proposing to nominate Vladimir Putin. The sheer nomination took place at the party Congress on November 27.
