Putin signed the relevant law
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law banning when you register the name of the child to use numbers and curse words.
The law introduced to the Family code a provision stating that the choice of name for a child is not allowed to use digits, alphanumeric notation, symbols and non-letters characters (except hyphen), and also mats, instructions on positions or titles.
This law was passed by the Parliament on 21 April, and approved by the Federation Council on April 26.
Previously, parents were in no way limited to the name of the child, and the Registrar’s office could not deny them registration.
