The cause of the accident of the satellite meteor-M after launch from the Baikonur East in the Amur region of the Russian Federation could be the human factor. On Tuesday, November 28, Interfax reported, citing a source in the space industry.
“According to preliminary data, there was an error in the flight mission of the carrier rocket and upper stage Fregat, with the result that the first pulse was not issued in the same orientation, which is necessary, so the upper stage with the satellite has entered the atmosphere and fell into the Atlantic ocean”, – said the source.
Earlier, a source reported that the upper stage Fregat could not stay in orbit and sunk in the Atlantic ocean. Prior to this, the source said that the satellite is presumed to be on an unplanned orbit.
Earlier Roskosmos confirmed the emergency on booster block Frigate, noting that she failed to establish connection with a running companion.
In turn, RIA Novosti said the risks when you launch and flight tests of the satellite meteor-M was insured by four Russian insurers in 2.6 billion rubles (44 million dollars).
