In Russia again held rallies against pension reform

In several Russian cities on Sunday held protests against raising the retirement age. Agreed with the authorities actions were held in Rostov, Orenburg and Omsk regions and in Udmurtia.

In Rostov-on-don, protesters accused the Russian leaders that they “stole not only the pension” and “freedom, peace, truth, dignity, honor”, and “future” Russians, reads the inscription on one of the posters. There was criticism of the Russian President personally. One man came with a photograph of Vladimir Putin, which was accompanied by the comment: “the Pensioner has buried Russia”. The President was criticized for raising the retirement age and taxes and prices for food, gasoline and housing and communal services. According to the correspondent of Radio Liberty, the action was attended by about 100 people.

In Orenburg the residents acted not only against pension reform, but a referendum on whether to return to direct elections of heads of cities and districts, according to local newspaper Ural56. The reason for the requirement of a referendum was the arrest of the mayor of Orenburg Eugene Arapov and his Deputy, suspected of taking bribes. The event was attended by from 100 to 300 people.

Omsk participants of the rally organized by the parties of the Communist party and Yabloko, urged the government to abandon the pension reform, and rebuked the regional electoral Commission in the reluctance to register the application to hold a referendum on raising the retirement age. The action was small. The organizers attributed this to the fact that the demonstration had to spend on the outskirts of the city due to the failure of officials to coordinate demonstration in the centre of Omsk.

In the Udmurt town of Votkinsk, the organizers asked the officials to answer “for lying about raising the retirement age”, reports “Echo of Moscow”.

The state Duma on Thursday passed in the third and final reading a law increasing the retirement age in Russia. Voted 332 deputies, against – 83, refrained was not. In the original version of the reform for the gradual increase in the retirement age to 65 years for men and 63 years for women. Later, the deputies supported the presidential amendment, according to which women’s age of retirement will increase to 60 years, not to 63. After the introduction of the law, sociologists have registered a significant drop in the rating of Vladimir Putin.
