The change will not affect small shops.
In the Sejm of Poland is preparing a bill on serious restriction on trading on Sundays, in particular the prohibition of shopping work every second and every fourth Sunday of the month.
The relevant proposals Thursday, October 12, nominated a sub-Committee on the labour market. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mateusz Morawiecki called the legislative initiative “a good compromise”.
Still in Poland all the shops and retailers were free to work on Sundays. However, on public holidays work permitted only small stores for which the owner himself behind the counter. The change will not affect those small businesses.
Signatures for a complete ban of the trade on Sunday with the support of the Catholic Church gathered the Solidarity trade Union in 2016, however, the ruling conservative party “law and justice” said that it is too radical an initiative. Association of shopping centers offer instead of the current bill to ensure that every employee will be entitled to two days off Sunday in the month. In turn, the Catholic bishops insist that the right to freedom Sunday is a basic for all people and all workers.
