Poland expects concrete proposals for the peacekeeping mission in the Donbass at the meeting of the UN security Council.
The placement of UN peacekeeping forces in the Donbass possible only with the consent of and in close cooperation with the Ukrainian authorities.
This was stated by the Polish foreign Ministry.
“The appropriate place for the presentation and preparation of such kind of initiatives is the UN security Council, and we expect concrete proposals at the Council meeting… the Necessary condition for the success of such a mission would be preparation of a mandate (the UN mission) in cooperation and with the consent of the Ukrainian side”, – informs the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Poland.
It is reported that the deployment of peacekeeping forces on the Ukrainian-Russian border is desirable from the point of view of security and stability in the region.
“However, we cannot accept a situation where the presence of these forces violates the generally accepted norms of international law, in particular those relating to territorial integrity and inviolability of borders”, – stressed the Polish foreign Ministry.
The report notes that, considering the statement of the Russian President Putin on UN peacekeepers in the Donbass, it is difficult to abstract from two issues. “First, we are talking about the hostilities of militants who trained and financed by Russia, and their actions are directed against the observation mission of the OSCE. Secondly, we are talking about the lack of transparency and the offensive nature of the exercises “West-2017,” – said the Polish foreign Ministry.
In Warsaw stressed that Poland supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and does not agree to the violation of international order and ignoring international law.
