The man is challenging the current policy
The former mayor of the Polish city of Slupsk and the first openly gay politicians in the country Robert Bedron has registered the opposition party called “Spring”.
Sunday, February 3, at the Congress in Warsaw Bedrog announced that the party will participate in elections to the European Parliament, which will take place on may 23-26. Bedrani said he wanted to challenge the current policy of Poland and to win any seats the ruling party “law and justice” (PiS).
“There is no place of hatred, we’ve reached the limit,” he said before thousands of supporters in Warsaw. “We need a spring that will update this gloomy landscape,” he added.
According to Bedrone, the program of his party is based on three pillars – people, society and the state. It provides, in particular, the refusal of Poland from coal by 2035, the reduction of deforestation and the liberalization of the abortion law in the country. He also advocated the prohibition of religious teachings in schools.
The party will be different from the nationalist policy of the PiS and the market policy of its chief rival, the Civic platform (PO), said Bedrani.
Bedrog began his political career as an LGBT activist in the 1990-ies. He was elected to the national Parliament in 2011 and in 2014-2018 held the position of mayor of Slupsk.
