In new York burned to the oldest synagogue

The building in 1850-ies was built by Jewish immigrants from the Russian Empire.

In new York there was a large fire in the oldest synagogue in Beth Ha-Midrash ha-Gadol, which is located in Manhattan.

The fire started on Sunday evening, may 14. Very quickly collapsed the roof of the building.

The fire was extinguished, but the synagogue suffered significant damage. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire becomes clear.

It is reported that the synagogue Beth Ha-Midrash ha-Gadol built in 1850-ies, the Jews who arrived from Russia. In recent years, the building was in poor condition. Its repair would require several million dollars.
