In Moscow, died a famous test pilot

Died honored test pilot Stepan Mikoyan.

In Moscow on 95-th year of life died a famous Soviet test pilot, hero of Soviet Union Stepan Mikoyan.

This was reported by the press service of the Russian aircraft Corporation “MiG”.

Stepan Mikoyan was the last living of five brothers Mikoyan — sons party and state leader since the USSR Anastas Mikoyan. All of them, except the youngest, Sergo Mikoyan, he devoted his life to military aviation.

Stepan Mikoyan was born 12 July 1922 in Tiflis. In August 1940 entered the Kachin military aviation school of pilots in the Crimea. Participated in the great Patriotic war, was awarded the order of red banner of 14 sorties in December 1941 — January 1942, the three air combat and shot down six enemy aircraft.

In the postwar years he experienced combat fighter aircraft of Mikoyan design Bureau, Sukhoi and Yakovlev, and in 1975 he received the title of honored test pilot of the USSR.
