Paleontologists have discovered in Morocco, the remains of Homo sapiens Dating back at least 300 thousand years.
Fossils show that those early Homo Sapiens was almost like our own, although their brain was radically different.
Age found in the village of Jebel of Irod in North-West Morocco fossils – namely, skulls, teeth and flint blades, is estimated at least 300 thousand years. That is, modern humans arose much earlier than previously thought.
“This is a fabulous find. Their faces were the same as some people in the subway,” – said one of the study’s authors, Dr. Jean-Jacques Hublin from the Institute of evolutionary anthropology in Leipzig.
Form bones of the skull immediately pointed to the fact that scientists are dealing with ancient Homo sapiens, not Neanderthals.
As the researchers note, the people of the Jebel Irod, apparently, supported by the fire to cook and buried in the ground flint blades. Blade was discovered in the same archaeological layer as the skull.
It is for the content of uranium isotopes in the tools scientists were able to date the Moroccan finds. The age of the remains was approximately 100 thousand years of the age of the oldest previously known human remains found in Ethiopia.
“We assume that early humans existed in all parts of Africa and gradually evolved in complexity of the brain, occasionally exchanging genes,” the researchers note.
