A passenger plane crashed in the lagoon.
Passenger Boeing-737 operated by Air Niugini from Papua New Guinea on the morning of Friday, September 28, fell into the lagoon while landing at the island of Chuuk in Micronesia. This was reported by the airport management.
The plane tried to sit up, but fell into the water about 150 metres from the runway.
As the Associated Press reports, people were evacuated from the plane using inflatable boats.
Airport Manager Jimmy Emilio said that all 36 passengers and 11 crew members are now undergoing medical examination. About the serious injuries, no reports.
Witnesses of the accident say that some of the passengers was seriously injured.
