In Mariupol there was a scandal around the dismantling of the monument “cities-heroes of the great Patriotic war”.
Angry local residents staged a protest against the demolition of the monument.
They criticized the dismantling and called it an act of vandalism, and those who demolish the monument – “fascists and Banderovites”.
Present residents shouted that we should not touch the monument at all, said fear that a monument to the Petlura or Bandera, and do not trust the authorities. Some cried openly Pro-Russian slogans.
It is worth noting that there were those who supported the removal.
The dismantling process was controlled by the Chairman of the Levoberezhnyy district administration of Mariupol Viktor Ocheretin. He explained to residents that the demolition of the old monument, to later be replaced with a new, which will also be dedicated to the cities heroes, and there will be broken walkway with flowers.
“The metalwork is rotten and the monument could fall at any moment and is a danger to others. Therefore, it was decided to dismantle it,” – said Ocheretin and assured the protesters that the new monument will be installed within six months, with all the symbols of the former will be saved.
He stressed that this decision has no political component, just a social security factor. “You want this star on your head fell off?” – he questioned the audience.
Spores reached maximum boiling point. Some residents threatened to kill Ocheretino in case of dismantling of the monument. Threats were also addressed to the journalists and employees of the municipal enterprise.
Ocheretin stressed that the location of the monument install any outlets not planned, not as planned installation sites with different themes.
Subsequently, the passions around the monument to the hero-city was quiet. Ocheretin waiting, he will bring a draft of the memorial, which he will show to local residents.
