In Malta unknown persons blew up the car of journalist Daphne Caruana Galicia, which was the author of the investigations of corruption in the framework of the project Panama Papers. 53-year-old journalist was killed.
According to militiamen, the car with the journalist blew up while driving near the town Bidnija in the North of Malta. The vehicle was laid a powerful explosive.
The Prime Minister of Malta Joseph Muscat, who also became one of the defendants in the corruption investigation, condemned the killing of Galicia.
“Everyone knows that Caruana Galicia was a stern critic of politicians, as well as to me personally, but this barbaric act cannot be justified,” said Muscat.
According to the BBC, the Maltese television reported that Galicia 2 weeks ago complained to the police for threats.
