In Lviv, died a famous journalist

2 Dec in Lviv died renowned historian, journalist and social activist Igor Melnik.

He died from a second stroke at the age of 65 years.

In 1988, Miller was engaged in the organization of Society the native language, which then became the all-Ukrainian society “Prosvita”. June 13, 1988, when was held the constituent Assembly, he suggested to hold it on the square near the monument to Ivan Franko. He does this first in Ukraine mass political rally, which was the historical precursor of the cascade of the Lviv rallies in 1988. Was one of the organizers of the people’s movement of Ukraine.

In the first democratic elections he was elected Deputy of the Lviv regional and Lviv city councils, then the Miller was a Deputy of the Lviv city Council of the third convocation.

In 2012 he founded the Ukrainian Galician party, after the registration became its first President (2014-2016).
