The tragedy occurred in Uzgen district in the village of UBA. According to preliminary data, 24 people were killed.
The landslide struck the town – about 4:20 a.m. and was about 1 million cubic meters. The ground was covered with up to ten houses, now the site of the disaster rescuers work.
According to the conclusions of the Ministry of emergency situations and civil defense of the Republic, from 1996 and 1998 the area in which landslide occurred, was considered dangerous and the people who lived there were subject to total relocation.
“In March this year, MOE gave the local residents the requirements for resettlement to safer areas as the houses were in the danger zone,” – said the press service of the Ministry.
According to the MOE, all 24 people who lived on the dangerous side of the mountain, at the time of the landslide were at home.
