Monster jailed for 6 months.
The Kyiv court of appeals upheld the most severe sentence the malefactor, accused of animal cruelty.
As the press service of the Metropolitan Prosecutor’s office in Facebook, 32-year-old from Kiev, in the yard of his house, hung on the tree, the cat and severely beat him with a rubber hose, causing the animal multiple bone fractures and a closed head injury.
A mockery of the animals had been stopped by the intervention of bystanders who took action to men on the video and called the police.
Sentence of Goloseevsky regional court of the capital the attacker was convicted of committing a crime under part 1 of article 299 of the criminal code (cruelty to animals). He was sentenced to six months in prison – the most severe punishment provided by the sanction of this article.
Disagreeing with the verdict, the defense filed an appeal, which asked the court to mitigate punishment for the accused. In addition, the lawyer and the defendant declared the petition for the release of the last from punishment on the basis of the law of Ukraine “On Amnesty in 2016”, said the Prosecutor’s office of Kiev.
The Kyiv court of appeals, considering the arguments of the Prosecutor, upheld the verdict of Goloseevsky regional court and refused to release the accused from punishment under the Amnesty.
