In Kiev opened the legendary track: bright photos

Reconstruction cost the city budget of 82 million.

20 may was held the opening of the Kiev cycle track. His salvation and the reconstruction took almost 10 years. The process was accompanied by constant scandals, changes of contractors and attempts to build in its place the Parking lot, the residential house. But the oldest cycle track in Europe (built in 1913) has survived all the troubles and is again ready to accept riders.

Over the years the track has undergone several reconstructions: was concrete, then wooden, then concrete again. From 1998 to 2007 was a monument of history and architecture. Then he lost that status — prevented the construction of skyscrapers. Some time later it was turned into a landfill of construction waste and almost destroyed.

In 2014, activists, residents and athletes have engaged in rescue of the racetrack. They managed to return the status of a monument of architecture and pass it to property of a territorial bulk. Over time, there was public organization “New Kiev cycle track”, which coordinated its reconstruction. For three years the painting had to be redone three times — the construction company could not perform the work efficiently. The latest phase of reconstruction was completed this spring.

The reconstruction has restored the racing surface and grandstand, equipped with a treadmill. Administrative and sports building is fully repaired and now there are shops, garages for equipment storage, medical service and administration.

Funding for reconstruction was conducted of the city budget and a cost of 82 million.
