In Kiev before the end of the year promises a “road revolution”

Kiev authorities plan to the end of the year to organize a system of “smart” traffic lights to relieve the capital’s roads and to get rid of traffic jams.

It is noted that the plans to organize 19 routes with “green wave” of traffic lights which will allow cars to move around the city almost without stopping. Among the new routes: the street. – the street Teligi – Ave Bandera St Scherbakovskaya str Grechko; Bratislava – St. Bandera, Brovarsky Ave.; PR. Palladina Ave Bandera, Brovarsky Ave; St. Zabolotny – Capital highway – hospital street and others.

According to the head of automated system of traffic management (ATMs) Sergei Polishko, the system automatically determines the speed with which the stream moves and selects the best signal mode to build a “green wave”, in which a car moving at a certain speed (about 50 km/h), will always fall on the green light.

“We plan before year-end to connect to a “green wave” all the main routes with the highest traffic. Ideally, at a speed of 45-55 km/h you could drive nonstop to the end of the route.”

Now in test mode in the capital has a nine green routes, among them, in particular, St. Victory Blvd. Shevchenko Blvd. L. Ukrainka str Boychuk (former Kikvidze –ed) is a hospital street. But in practice, “green wave” is weak.

According to the urban planner Gregory Melnichuk, first, prevented from moving at the same speed of the tube, secondly, even without traffic jams the drivers themselves do not hold the speed to the desired mark.

“Very few drivers know how fast to move need to get into the wave. So the roads should install the appropriate restrictive signs”, – he explained.

In addition, on the capital’s roads will be electronic signs with information on traffic conditions in real time, in particular, about traffic jams, slabs, and other difficulties of movement in the city, authorities have already sent a request for the allocation of funds for the purchase of 50 devices.

According to Polishko such Board (each price – UAH 200 thousand) will appear on the entrances to the city, and in places where road works.

In turn, the enterprise “kyyivdorservis” said they plan to install at difficult junctions special guides color chevrons.

“Let’s start with the entrance to the bridge Paton. Now the Center staff completed the installation of chevrons and from day to day shields will be installed at the entrances to the junction with directions and colors, in which drivers will be guided” – said the head of the enterprise Viktor Chernov.
