Igor Boiko announced a hunger strike in protest.
The Pechersky district court of Kyiv has arrested a businessman, owner of Zhytomyr confectionery factory of Igor Boyko for two months with alternative collateral. This was reported by his partner Dennis Dolinsky.
Dolinsky also claims that the guards beat the suspect in the courtroom.
“Yesterday was illegally detained by the police in the courtroom. Beat him up real bad, broke his face, the head. It was all done by order of the Deputy Sergei Pashinsky, the Minister of justice Pavel Petrenko, with the help of Arsen Avakov, who is being blackmailed by Igor Boyko that he took from the international arbitration the claim on which he sought to blame Ukraine for the expropriation of his business, which is worth more than $ 100 million. They demand that he took the claim to international arbitration in the Hague, and then he will get freedom,” said Dolinsky.
According to him, Igor Boyko refused to accept the detention center, since he was badly beaten. At the moment, the businessman is in the hospital. His partner stressed that this incident is already known to the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine. It is planned that Boyko will visit the U.S. Embassy staff, as he is a U.S. citizen and a member of the Republican party.
In turn, the Interfax-Ukraine with reference to the press service of the businessman reports that Igor Boyko declared a hunger strike in protest against illegal arrest and beating.
“It requires the court, prosecution and police to stop violating his rights and be given the opportunity to defend themselves in accordance with the law”, – stated in the message.
According to information, after the announcement of the decision by which the court arrested Boyko for two months the guards took him to jail, but the lawyers were not allowed to client.
“In the Pechersk police Department could not explain lawyers Boyko, where is their client. The prison service reported that it did not took delivered smartly in Lukyanivka prison, as it had obvious traces of beatings”, – says the press service.
In turn, the Director of the Department of communication of the Ministry of internal Affairs of Ukraine Artem Shevchenko confirmed that on Friday, December 1, the court chose to Igor Boyko a measure of restraint in form of detention with alternative collateral 4.8 million hryvnia, then the suspect was transported to jail.
“But on the way his face appeared a small but visible damage. The primary survey of police officers who escorted him, said that they did not use violence to that suspect. Sure to be an official audit on this issue”, – said Shevchenko in the air 112.Ukraine.
He said that now Igor Boyko is in the emergency hospital with him and worked as a doctor.
“There is one visible injury on his face, and it is necessary to inspect, to obtain the withdrawal of doctors from which it came. The escort says he was one of the cars and force was not used to it,” said Shevchenko.
However, he admitted that given the provocative behavior of the suspect during trial, this injury could be triggered by the suspect in order to “continue to provoke conflicts as it did during the trial.”
