In Jordan, scientists have found an ancient burial

В Иордании ученые нашли древнейшее захоронениеHundreds of ancient tombs discovered in the “valley of the dead fire”.

Archaeologists found hundreds of stone tombs in form of pyramids in the Jordanian desert Jebel Kurma, which because of its aridity is also called the “valley of the dead fire”.

It is reported by the scientific journal Live Science.

“Most of the tombs represent the stone mounds up to five metres in diameter and 1.5 meters in height. They differ distinctly by the shape of its towers and a well-defined facade made of large flat basalt slabs,” said archaeologist Peter Akkermans of the University of Leiden in the Netherlands.

The tomb is located near the ruins of ancient settlements. It is believed that they were lifeless for about four thousand years ago. Scientists believe that the desert was not casually chosen as a special place for burials.

Discovered tombs date from about a thousand BC. This gave scientists to understand that the desert Jebel Kurma settled again after the mass Exodus of four thousand years ago. The reasons for this still remain a mystery.

The new settlers built a tomb much greater complexity. In particular, they used the basalt stones weighing over 300 kilograms, according to the archaeologists.
