The representatives of Hungary said on its progress at the bilateral talks on the language issue.
The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Hungary no longer requires Ukraine unconditional rejection of current linguistic norms of the education act. On Friday, June 21, said at a press conference in Lower Solotvyno (Transcarpathia), the Minister of foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Siyyarto.
After the first round of the Ukrainian-Hungarian consultations Szijjártó spoke about the progress in negotiations on the language of education.
“Today we took the first steps, a lot of work ahead”, – he stressed. “We tried not to discuss how the law will make more effective the study of the Ukrainian language. We only ask that it does not interfere with the interests of the Hungarian-language minority. This is our only request,” – said the Minister.
It is noteworthy that péter Szijjártó did not demand the repeal or suspension of article 7 of the law On education, although until now, this was a key requirement of Hungary.
Now Hungary insists only on the implementation of the two key points of the recommendations of the Venice Commission.
