In Guatemala, archaeologists have unearthed a unique artifact

Found the tomb of the Mayan king.

Archaeologists have discovered in the North-West of Guatemala the tomb of the Mayan king Dating from 300-350 BC.

The tomb was the oldest of the seven identified in the ancient city of El Peru-Waka, as I believe it contains the remains of king Te ‘Chan Ahca, monarch of the dynasty of the HAC, who ruled in the early 4th century. Historians believe that the dynasty was founded in the 2nd century.

Although there was no label that will positively identify this as a Royal tomb, archaeologists say that the existence of jade mask depicting the God of maize, indicates that the man in the tomb was the king. Mayan kings were regularly portrayed as imitators of the God of corn.

The Maya worshiped their rulers and treated them as living souls after death, – said Professor of anthropology David Freidel.
El Peru-Waka is situated 60 kilometers West of the city of Tikal, near the river San Pedro martir. There once was intersected by main trading routes running from North to South and from East to West.
