Arrested in Gibraltar sailing-motor yacht “A” Russian businessman Andrey Melnichenko, which is the largest sailing yacht in the world.
The ship was arrested because of a claim by German shipyard Nobiskrug. The company’s lawyers claim that the customer is the company Valla Yachts Limited owed a total of more than 15.3 million euros, including the latest installment in the amount of 9.8 million euros.
The representative Valla Yachts expressed surprise at the incident, stating that the parties were in the process of dispute resolution; he noted, in particular, that on 5 February Nobiskrug allowed the boat to leave the port in Kiel and sent to Spain for finishing works.
Andrey Melnichenko is the owner of EuroChem and SUEK. Forbes in 2016 estimated his fortune at 8.2 billion dollars and put it on 11 place in the rating of the richest businessmen of Russia.
