“The purpose of the implemented changes is to protect non-smokers from the harmful effects of tobacco smoke”, – stated in the message.
Innovations in the prisons of Georgia is part of amendments adopted in may by Parliament in the law “On tobacco control”, according to which in the country would be gradually introduced new restrictions on the consumption of tobacco and tobacco products.
From may 1, Georgia had enacted a ban on Smoking in public places and in all enclosed areas that are more than 50% enclosed by walls, as well as any advertising of tobacco products.
According to the world health organization, Georgia is one of the world leaders in the consumption of tobacco products. The country regularly smoke 40% of the population, among men, the figure is 60%, among women – 15%.
