Law enforcement bodies of Georgia failed to prevent the assassination of one of the hierarchs of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
On suspicion in preparation of attempt, announced on Monday the public Prosecutor of Georgia Irakli Shotadze on Friday, February 10, was detained the head of the property management service of the Patriarchate, father George Mamaladze.
In early February, said the attorney General, law enforcement authorities asked a friend Mamaladze, who told us that the priest asked him to help to get the poison cyanide. Mamaladze admitted to his friend that he needed the poison for the assassination of one of the hierarchs of the Church.
February 10, Mamaladze was detained at Tbilisi airport, where was going to fly to Germany, where he is the head of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Patriarch-Catholicos Ilia II and his entourage. The baggage Mamaladze was discovered cyanide, and the search of his home — firearms and ammunition. Mamaladze does not admit his guilt, he added.
