Heavy rain and Gale-force winds that struck on Thursday evening in Tbilisi, has created serious problems in some areas of the Georgian capital and its surroundings, podtopil roads and restricting the movement of traffic.
According to local media, in the Central part of the city and also in areas of Samgori and Isani, the village of Varketili, water floods roads, basements and first floors of the houses. Field crews mobilized to the Agency for management of emergency situations of the Georgian interior Ministry, which has already begun pumping water from flooded buildings.
Bad weather has created problems and on the exit roads from Tbilisi. On the motorway in the direction of Rustavi in the Ponichala district, as well as on the road to Kakheti, near the village Gombori went landslides that blocked traffic. In several areas due to strong winds uprooted trees fell on cars, which, fortunately, no one was.
According to media reports, a storm with rain has damaged the 110 kV transmission line and feeders in the city of Rustavi, with the result that a large part of this city, one of the largest industrial centers of the country, were left without electricity.
It is reported that despite the bad weather, technical services of the company Energo-Pro Georgia promptly went to the scene and promised to soon restore electricity supply de-energized areas of the city.
