In 2015, France has offered asylum 20 630 refugees.
Protesters in the southwestern French city of Semeac built a wall around the former entrance to the hotel, to prevent its use as a refuge for migrants.
“Dozens of residents of the city of Semeac erected a barrier with a length of 18 meters and a height of 1.8 meters around the hotel Formule 1”, – stated in the message.
According to protesters, the local government did not discuss with residents a plan for up to 85 migrants in the building.
It is noted that the local government has not yet responded to the construction of the wall, which began late on Monday evening.
“We are not against accepting migrants, but it is necessary to take into account the opinion of citizens”, – said the representative of the group of activists.
Activists also warned that small town, home to about 5,500 people, simply can not cope with migrants.
Hotel in Séméac, which is no longer working, it is one of dozens of such homes in France, purchased by the state for the accommodation of migrants, many of whom today live on the street.
According to Eurostat data, in 2015, France has offered asylum 20 630 refugees.
